Redmen top rival Royals

BUCYRUS — Logen Sand shot a 47 to lead Wynford, but it was not enough as the Royals fell short, 191-198, against rival Bucyrus in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference golf match Thursday at The Golf Club of Bucyrus. Kayleb Keaton shot a 48, and Jack Reed carded a 50, while Mitchell Zaebst’s 53 rounded out team scoring.

Falcons pick up 1st victory

ARLINGTON — The Riverdale golf team picked up its first win of the season, defeating Ridgemont, 255-257, with Upper Scioto Valley winning overall with a 210 in a tri-match Thursday at Sycamore Springs Golf Course. Nick Van Atta led the way for the Falcons (1-12) with a 52, while Mason Pickett shot a 58.

Van Buren pulls away from Riverdale

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Van Buren scored three second-half goals to top Riverdale, 4-1, in a boys North Central Ohio Soccer Association match Thursday. Taylor Bacon scored on an assist from Ben Gannon in the 25th minute to tie the match between the Falcons (1-5-1, 0-2-1 NCOSA) and Black Knights (6-2, 3-0 NCOSA) at 1.

Kin has 20 kills in Carey win

CAREY — Sydney Kin pounded 20 kills on 30-of-33 hitting as Carey topped Bucyrus, 25-16, 25-16, 25-15, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match Thursday night. Mckenzie Row had seven kills on 10-of-12 hitting, and Hannah Zimmerman (11-of-15 hitting) and Jessica Johnson (17-of-24 hitting) both finished with six kills.

Thiery’s 15 kills lead Warriors

MORRAL — Addie Thiery had 15 kills, and Kaylee Ward served eight aces as Mohawk topped Ridgedale, 25-15, 25-13, 25-15, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match Thursday evening. Ward added six kills and five digs, and Thiery had three digs and two blocks for the Warriors (9-2, 7-1 N10).

Mohawk girls golf 2nd in quad

NEW WASHINGTON — Madison Wagner shot a 59 to lead Mohawk to second place in a quad match Thursday at Cranberry Hills Golf Course. Host Buckeye Central ran away with first place with a 220-264 advantage over Mohawk, while Seneca East used the fifth-score tiebreaker to top Bucyrus for third after both teams shot 268.

Hole-in-one at Lincoln Hills

Matt Zachmann, of Marion, had the third hole-in-one of the season recently at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. He used a 6-iron on the 166-yard par-3 No. 2. Steve Zachmann witnessed the shot.

Mohawk 8th grade gets win

BUCYRUS — Mohawk’s eighth grade football team defeated Wynford, 48-18, on Tuesday. Jesse Leeth ran for three touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions.
