Mohawk’s Harper, Shock named All-Ohioans

SYCAMORE — Mohawk junior Austin Harper was named an All-Ohioan for the second time, and senior Austin Shock earned the distinction for the first time with the release of teams by the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches’ Association.

With a state qualification up for grabs, Madelyn Shasteen literally took her game up a notch. At the Division II regional track and field meet in Dayton, the Upper Sandusky freshman pulled off a personal-record pole vault of 10-0 to slide into fourth place and punch her ticket to the state meet.

Oler rising to meet each challenge

SYCAMORE — The more Mohawk’s Destini Oler has been challenged, the more she has excelled. Oler ran the best race of her career Friday to earn a spot in the Division III girls 800 run in this weekend’s state track and field meet in Columbus.

Upper hurdlers ready for state

The high school athletic careers of Emma Smith and Chase Barnett nearly ended a week ago. The Upper Sandusky senior hurdlers faced some adversity in their Division II regional meet but ultimately did enough to keep the ride going with strong showings in the 300 hurdles. As a result, they are headed to state.

Falcons’ Pauley focused on herself

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Carrol Pauley was the lone Riverdale student in the track and field stadium behind the school on Tuesday. School was out, and the spring sports season was over for every Falcons athlete except for her.
