BASCOM — Jonathan Walter singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning and then closed out the win in on the mound in the bottom of the inning in a 10-8 extra-inning victory for Riverdale against Hopewell-Loudon on Tuesday.

NEW WASHINGTON — Rico Lopez threw a three-hit shutout with no walks and 10 strikeouts to lead Mohawk to a 10-0 win against Buckeye Central in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Tuesday. The Warriors (3-1, 2-1 N10) earned a 1-0 lead in the third inning, made it 3-0 in the fifth and then blew the game open with a six-run sixth inning.

NEW WASHINGTON — Mohawk smashed 15 hits and drew 11 walks to explode offensively in a 22-14 Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball victory against Buckeye Central on Tuesday. The Warriors (4-1, 2-1 N10) took a 5-0 lead, but fell behind 10-5 with the Bucks (0-4, 0-3 N10) scoring six runs in the second and four runs in the third inning.

Carey’s goal this year is to be in the mix to win the Northern 10 Athletic Conference, but after dropping its league opener last week, a win Monday at Upper Sandusky was essential. The Blue Devils got what they needed.

SYCAMORE — Cadin Emshoff scored the winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the eighth inning in Mohawk’s 4-3 Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball victory against Colonel Crawford on Monday. Emshoff was hit by a pitch with one out, stole second, moved to third on Wyatt Cook’s groundout and then scored with two outs and Tanner Osborn at the plate.

Upper Sandusky had little trouble defeating Madison, 5-0, in boys tennis Monday. Nate Hensel won 7-5, 6-1 against Chaise Lunsford in the No. 1 singles match, taking 12 of the final 13 games after trailing 5-1 in the first set.

While Carey shook off its rust, Upper Sandusky went up 8-0 on a pair of four-run innings in an 8-4 victory to open conference play. It was the first game in a week for the Blue Devils (1-1, 0-1 N10).

BUCYRUS — Ridgedale topped Wynford, 21-3, in five innings in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball game Monday at Wynford. Details of the game were not available.

SYCAMORE — Sydney Studer dominated Mohawk with four extra-base hits and five RBIs while giving up just two hits with 13 strikeouts in the pitching circle in a 12-2 Colonel Crawford victory Monday. Studer doubled three times, hit a home run, walked and scored four runs for the Eagles (3-0, 1-0 N10).

BUCYRUS — Trey Stone threw a one-hitter and was backed by plenty of offense as Wynford rolled to a 12-0 victory against Ridgedale on Monday in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game. The Royals (1-2, 1-0 N10) scored twice in the first inning and five times each in the third and fourth innings.
