Liberty-Benton runs away in 3rd quarter

FINDLAY — Carey has had a rough time against the Blanchard Valley Conference this season. A Monday night out-of-league game at Liberty-Benton presented too many matchup problems as the Blue Devils fell behind by as many as 32 points in the second half of a 74-52 loss.

Upper 7th grade downs Crawford

Upper Sandusky stayed hot with its fifth victory in its last six games, defeating first-place Colonel Crawford, 25-23, in a seventh grade boys basketball game Saturday. Owen Knapp paced the Rams with eight points, while Trenton Beamer had six points.

Upper wrestling in regional SF

Upper Sandusky will wrestling in the regional semifinals of the OHSAA team dual tournament at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Miami Trace Middle School, 3800 Ohio 41 N.W., Washington Court House. The Rams, the No. 2 seed from sub-region 14A in Division II, face No. 4 seed Whitehall-Yearling.

USHS night to be held at BBW

Upper Sandusky High School athletes, students, teachers, families and friends are invited to Buffalo Wild Wings in Tiffin from 6-9 p.m. Feb. 6 for USHS night when 15 percent of all sales will be donated to the school’s athletic department. Ram Boosters having raffle

The Ram Boosters are selling raffle tickets for three photos in one frame, autographed by three Ohio State University legends in different sports: football player Archie Griffin, basketball player Jerry Lucas and golfer Jack Nicklaus. Each photo is 11 inches by 14 inches, and the overall size is 25 by 42.5 inches.

Gym floors to be refinished

Robert’s Floors will be refinishing the gym floors at Upper Sandusky High School, East Elementary and Union School from June 28 through July 9. The USHS gym will be closed during this time and will reopen July 10.

Upper boys win NCOS championship; girls take 2nd

NORTH ROBINSON — Though he was not dressed for a swim, Justin Richardson was happy to take a dip in the pool Saturday afternoon at Colonel Crawford. After capturing their first league championship in the first North Central Ohio Swim meet, the Upper Sandusky boys swimmers celebrated by pushing their coach in the shallow end.

Rams run away from Rockets, 69-28

Upper Sandusky had three points of emphasis for Saturday night’s game against Ridgedale, and it is safe to say, the Rams executed them in their 69-28 victory. Coach Jeff Winslow said the Rams wanted to play a solid four quarters, limit their own turnovers and communicated well on defense. They accomplished all of those things by outscoring the Rockets in every quarter, committing just four turnovers and forcing 27 turnovers while holding Ridgedale forward Alex Eldred to eight points.

Stone leads Carey to rivalry win

SYCAMORE — Mohawk was able to hang around, but by the end of the night, it found itself between a stone and a hard place. Carey’s Hayden Stone lost the opening tip of Saturday’s Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game to Mohawk’s Brandon Flood. That was the only setback the freshman saw during the Blue Devils’ 55-43 win over county rival Mohawk.
