Caden M. Johnson, Carey, was cited for failure to yield after a crash that sent three people to the hospital late Aug. 27. He was traveling northbound on U.S. 23 at the CH 97 intersection when he pulled in front of a westbound vehicle driven by Carol J. Zhang, Northville, Michigan, causing Zhang to strike his vehicle.

SYCAMORE — Twenty-one United States military veterans participated in an assembly and luncheon hosted by Mohawk Local Schools in celebration of Veterans Day on Friday morning.

Upper Sandusky Middle School students were tuned into local veterans’ stories on Veterans Day in what has become a tradition at Union Elementary and Middle School.

Firelands Counseling and Recovery Services is bringing a new intensive outpatient treatment program to Wyandot County in an effort to reach individuals who are prepared to make the move into the process of recovery from addiction.

Paving started Thursday morning at Third Street and is progressing west on Wyandot Avenue with crews planning to complete paving thru Eighth Street. The intersection of Seventh Street and Wyandot Avenue will not be paved at this time as future work through that area is needed, but stone will be brought in to grade to allow thru traffic.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library Board celebrated the 30th anniversary of the library’s dedication Thursday before a regular board meeting. The library was dedicated Nov. 10, 1986.

The Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program, a division of the Ohio Department of Insurance, offered free Medicare checkups for registered Wyandot County residents at Senior Connection on Thursday. Wyandot County Council on Aging Director Amy Gardner said enough people registered for every half-hour appointment slot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday to be filled for two OSHIIP representatives who visited the county.

Steve M. Piatt, Nevada, was traveling westbound on Ohio 294 east of TH 135, Antrim Township, early the morning of Aug. 1 when he struck a deer that ran into the roadway. The 2002 Honda Accord he was driving sustained functional damage to the left side and front end.

SYCAMORE — Sycamore Council approved a motion allowing village solicitor Jim Gucker to draft a one-year renewal contract with the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office for continued law enforcement services during a brief meeting Tuesday.
