As snow blew sideways outside the Wyandot County Courthouse on Saturday, 13 tiny candle flames lit the faces inside during a candlelight vigil to honor 41 people who have died by suicide. Upper Sandusky Mayor Scott Washburn said the contrast between Friday’s sunny, warm weather and Saturday’s frigid blowing snowfall was an example of what it may feel like to live with mental illness.

COLUMBUS — The Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure will make a stop in Upper Sandusky on June 20 in a route featuring north central Ohio, organizers announced this morning. A man was assaulted by a fellow inmate Friday morning at the Wyandot County Jail. Joshua B. Risner, New Riegel, entered the cell of an Upper Sandusky man while he was sleeping and began to assault him, according to the sheriff’s report.

Joseph N. Burkhart, Bellevue, charged by the state with passing a bad check, appeared on bench warrant. Frank D. Blair, Upper Sandusky, charged by the state with passing a bad check, attempted petty theft and assault; and by the police with open burning, pretrial held, continued to Dec. 21.
