As part of the Home for the Holidays weekend in Wyandot County, the Star Players of Upper Sandusky are all set to perform their 12th annual Christmas Cabaret at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Star Theatre.

AREY — Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted recently named Carey’s Precision Concrete Cutting a featured veteran-owned business in November’s Ohio Business Profile. A construction company specializing in concrete projects, the business originated as a concrete-cutting division of San-Con Industries in 1997 under John Wyatt.

The Rotary Club of Upper Sandusky will host its second annual pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at John Stewart United Methodist Church. Advance tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for kids ages 4-12.

Following a traffic stop of a speeding vehicle on U.S. 23 in Salem Township the night of Aug. 27, a passenger, Johnny C. Meek Jr., Columbus, was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. Joseph E. Whisner, Columbus, was cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated (refusal) and speed following a traffic stop on U.S. 23 near CH 56, Crane Township, the morning of Aug. 28.

An officer responded to a report of two males possibly fighting in the roadway by Harrison Smith Park the night of Sept. 23. The officers could not locate anyone in the area.

A lot has changed in the years since Jerry Clinger and Bob Hosterman first suited up in their fire-fighting rubber coats and hip boots a half-century ago. Clinger, a former Sycamore Fire chief for approximately 17 years, and Hosterman, a fire investigator for the past 15 years, recently tenured their resignations from the Sycamore Fire and Rescue.

The 2016 Home for the Holidays celebration kicks off Thursday night with a wreath auction and will continue through the weekend with activities for youth, adults and families. The annual holiday wreath auction will benefit the Upper Sandusky Area Chamber of Commerce.

Those who find themselves in Carey on Friday evening will be embraced into the full spirit of Christmas. The Carey Area Chamber of Commerce’s 14th annual Christmas in Carey is set to take place 5-8 p.m. in the downtown area.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale Board of Education is moving forward in its pursuit of an updated security system for the school. The district’s current security system is about 13 to 14 years old, Superintendent Eric Hoffman said at Riverdale’s monthly board meeting Monday.

The Wyandot County Health Alliance recently announced the completed revision of the county resource directory. The directory is a publication of phone numbers to reach local resources like emergency services, child and family services, education and employment training, food, clothing and housing assistance and mental and physical health services.
