The Wyandot County Veterans Service Office thanked veterans living at Westbook Assisted Living and Memory Care for their service with a special concert and gifts during lunch Monday.

Members of the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board released data from the past five years during a meeting with the Wyandot County Board of Commissioners on Monday. The health board, which also serves Sandusky and Seneca counties, released data on suicide deaths, drug overdose deaths and drug misuse totals.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The problems surrounding the digital sign at Riverdale School may soon be resolved. Since the sign’s installation in May, the district has dealt with multiple cases of sections of the sign blacking out, sometimes with an entire side not working.

CAREY — Carey Council approved a resolution in support of the Carey Exempted Village Schools application to the Ohio Department of Transportation for a Safe Routes to School grant during a special council meeting Monday.

A Forest man was transported to Wyandot Memorial Hospital after a crash on CH 95 south of CH 44 on Monday afternoon. The man, originally reported to be driving south on CH 95 when he fell asleep, drove off the left side of the road.

William M. Burgess Jr., Upper Sandusky, was warned for license plate light on East Wyandot Avenue near Wendy’s early the morning of Feb. 10. Anne B. Stief, Upper Sandusky, was cited for failure to yield after a minor crash at the intersection of East Wyandot Avenue and Fifth Street the afternoon of Feb. 10.

A lower, 35 mph speed limit is in effect on East Wyandot Avenue, between Duck Pond Road and Malabar Drive. The city put up the new speed limit signs Wednesday and drivers caught speeding will get a warning for the first two weeks, Upper Sandusky Police Chief David Olds said.

Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office Joseph R. McDowell, Woodburn, Indiana, was cited for failure to control after a single-car crash on U.S. 30 West at the U.S. 23 split, Salem Township, the morning of Feb. 15.

Rene A. Heffelfinger, Upper Sandusky, charged by the police with injuring an animal, disposition hearing held, found guilty. Jason P. Chavana, Carey, charged by the Carey police with assault, pretrial held, continued to March 15.
