Three apply for USPD chief job

Three Upper Sandusky police officers are in the running to be the department’s next chief. Capt. Dan Ross and officers Allen Foust and Roger Hetzel applied for the vacant chief’s job, city Councilman Bill Thornton announced during Monday’s safety committee meeting.

Upper tennis awards

Zachary D. Young, Upper Sandusky, was transported to the correctional reception center in Orient to begin a 57-month prison term the morning of May 11. Young was found guilty of three counts of burglary and two counts of grand theft.

Criminal, traffic cases tried in court

Tyrone L. Taylor, Delaware, charged by the Carey police with obstruction of official business, possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia, pleaded guilty, found guilty. Cody L. Ball, Marion, charged by the Carey police with offense involving an underage individual and disorderly conduct by intoxication, pleaded guilty, found guilty.
