MARION — Beverly Young, Executive Director of the Marion Area Counseling Center, has announced her retirement after 40 years of service to the Marion Community. Young has served the counseling center and Marion community since 1977, delivering professional leadership, clinical counseling and specialized services to the clients of MACC and the people of Marion County.

FOSTORIA — Reineke Ford Inc. of Fostoria recently celebrated 50 years of partnership with Ford Motor Company. On Aug. 24, 1967, Mr. William F. Reineke, Sr. was welcomed into the Ford Motor Company in Fostoria, and Reineke Ford has been selling new Ford vehicles since that date.

The Upper Sandusky Color Guard spoke to students in Patty Niederkohr’s fourth grade class at East Elementary School about proper flag etiquette Tuesday afternoon.

SYCAMORE — Citizens and officials brainstormed ways to improve the community pool and park during a public parks committee meeting Tuesday at council chambers. Sycamore Mayor Vicki Weininger, Councilman David Myers, Clerk-Treasurer Chris Moler and Administrator Chuck Clark were in attendance and they spoke with local residents including Dean Keller, president of First National Bank of Sycamore.

KIRBY — Kirby Village Council met Tuesday evening, all members and the mayor were present. A motion was made to close a section of Mifflin Street in the village near the grain elevator.

Deputies were dispatched to a robbery at First Federal Bank, Harpster, the afternoon of Aug. 21. An unknown amount of cash was taken by an unidentified male.

The Upper Sandusky Police Department is finally about to be back to full strength. Officer Jesse Evilsizer was sworn in to the department at Monday’s Safety Committee meeting. His first day on the force will be Sunday.

CAREY — Carey council continued to discuss memorials for past village officials but took no action during a regular meeting Monday. The village has been talking about memorials since the death of former councilwoman Lois Kurtz.

The Wyandot County Soil Judging Contest took place recently on the farm of John and Chris Lininger on TH 36 south of Sycamore. Agriculture students from the four county schools competed in two different soil judging contests: the agriculture (rural) contest and the urban contest.

The Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District recently held its 72nd annual meeting in combination with the Crawford County Farm Bureau’s annual meeting.
