Upper, Carey school income taxes renewed

Voters on Tuesday chose to renew income taxes for both the Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School District and the Carey Exempted Village School District. The five-year, 1.25 percent income tax in Upper Sandusky passed with an unofficial vote total of 2,815 votes for (65.1 percent) and 1,510 votes against across Wyandot, Marion and Seneca counties. In Wyandot County, the margin was 2,794 votes for (65.6 percent) and 1,465 votes against.

Renewals around Wyandot County all pass

Wyandot County voters passed a pair of levies Tuesday in support of the Wyandot County Council on Aging and the Wyandot County Board of Health while three other local levies also passed. The Council on Aging had a five-year, .8-mill levy on the ballot and it passed by 75 percent.

Voters approve library’s levy

The Upper Sandusky Community Library had a 1.4-mill renewal levy on the ballot Tuesday for property owners in the Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School District. Voters in Wyandot County supported the library by a significant margin, passing the levy with 2,975 votes for the tax levy and 1,269 votes against the levy.

Dear editor, Nov. 6 will find the citizens of this state facing the decision of whether to adopt proposed Issue 1 as an amendment to the Ohio Constitution. At the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, we are mindful of and wish to share with the citizens of Wyandot County our concerns about some of the dangers Issue 1 presents to our community and the state of Ohio.

Carey to put renewal tax levy on ballot

CAREY — During their meeting on Monday, the Carey Exempted Village School District Board of Education approved a resolution to renew the levy of an annual income tax expiring at the end of 2019 for school district purposes. With the passing of the resolution, the 1 percent, five-year income tax levy will be placed on the ballot for voters in the upcoming general election on Nov. 6.
