Four candidates are vying for two spots on the Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School Board of Education.

Each year before, during and after elections, the Wyandot County Board of Elections is hard at work to ensure the process is seamless and secure for Wyandot County voters.

The filing deadline for party candidates for the city of Upper Sandusky and the village of Carey is Feb. 6. Independent candidates must file their petitions by May 6. Other villages, township trustees and local school board members must file their petitions by Aug. 7.

Upper Sandusky native and current state Rep. Riordan McClain was victorious in his first official election for the state’s 87th District Tuesday. McClain won by a landslide in Wyandot County, outpacing Democratic challenger Mary Pierce-Broadwater by a margin of 5,955 votes to 2,005.

Wyandot County made its voice heard Tuesday, and Commissioner Ron Metzger will serve another term. Metzger was re-elected after earning 5,915 votes compared to Democratic challenger Jon Oberhauser, who received 2,070 votes.

Voters in Ohio’s 5th District for the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly gave their support to incumbent Bob Latta (R) on Tuesday. Latta received 173,894 votes while Democratic challenger Michael Galbraith earned 97,352 votes.
