Friends and customers of Community First Bank N.A. are invited to an open house from 2-4 p.m. Jan. 31 in the Upper Sandusky office to honor Assistant Vice President Phil Beidelschies, who is retiring after 19 years with the bank. Beidelschies, who began his career with CFB at the bank’s Forest office, was integral in prepping and opening CFB’s Upper Sandusky office in 2002.

Robert McClure, of Upper Sandusky, was appointed to the Wyandot Memorial Hospital Board of Governors by the Joint Township Hospital District Board of Trustees to represent the community at large. McClure is the executive vice president and chief operating officer at The First Citizens National Bank, where he is responsible for all operations of the bank, including branch locations, human resources, marketing and the First Citizens Financial Services Group. He has worked at FCNB since 1994 and is a member of the bank’s board of directors.

FINDLAY — The Association of Continuity Professionals in December approved the formation of a new ACP Chapter in Ohio. The chapter is being led by: James Knox, MBCP AFBCI of Marathon Petroleum, chapter president; Darren Sliwinski, CBCP of US Bank, Chapter treasurer; and Chris Schmidt of Progressive Insurance, chapter secretary.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library Board kicked off 2019 with an organizational meeting. Jennifer Romich, Dianne Grafmiller and Ann Kemerley were retained as president, vice president and secretary, respectively. Kathleen Whitt was reappointed as fiscal officer and Todd Leightey began his new term on the board. All positions were sworn in.

MARSEILLES — Marseilles Council held discussion about catch basins in the village that are in need of repair during its regular meeting Tuesday. Council also discussed the chicken barbecue to be held in April and reviewed the December bank statement.

The new and improved Don Tomasso’s Italian-American restaurant held a soft opening this past weekend at its new location in downtown Upper Sandusky. Owner Thomas Smith brings 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry.

The City of Upper Sandusky gained a new fire chief Monday evening at the Upper Sandusky City Council meeting. Mike MaGinn was sworn in by Upper Sandusky Mayor Scott Washburn as the new Upper Sandusky fire chief, taking the place of Lynn Yeater, who retired at the end of December.

CAREY — Carey Village Council on Monday approved the first reading of an ordinance authorizing and directing the village administrator to advertise for and accept sealed public bids for selling multiple used vehicles no longer necessary for municipal use.

NEVADA — Tom Durham was voted Nevada Council’s president during Monday night’s organizational meeting. Durham also was named the Wyandot East Fire District representative and the chair of the finance committee, which also includes Michael Wise and Richard Awbrey.
