CRESTLINE — A boating safety and beginner canoeing class is set for 6 p.m. Aug. 10 at Bucyrus Neff Reservoir, located on Ohio 98. The program, sponsored by the Crawford Park District, will begin with a boating safety lesson, followed by a canoe float around the reservoir.

St. Peter School will be host its annual back-to-school open house from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Aug. 15. A presentation will take place in the gym to start the open house.

SYCAMORE — Sycamore United Methodist Church, 205 N. Sycamore Ave., will host its annual social Thursday. The public is invited to attend.

COLUMBUS — Ohio Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor recently announced the launch of the “Think Again” insurance initiative to empower Ohioans at all life stages to take charge of their financial future by planning, organizing and sharing their financial and insurance information with one another.

Mackenzie N. McClain and Matthew B. Wysong exchanged wedding vows May 28 at Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church. Mark Artrip and Chad Guined officiated the 3:30 p.m. ceremony.

Nomination forms are being accepted for the second annual adult spelling bee to benefit Hannah’s House, a supervised visitation and exchange home based in Upper Sandusky. The cost to participate in the annual fundraiser is $20 per person.

FINDLAY — Two Wyandot County natives are among nearly 90 students from the University of Findlay who are completing summer internships. Melissa Carrick of Sycamore is a marketing intern for Creative Plastic Concepts, Sycamore.

KENTON — Judge Randall Basinger will be the featured speaker for the Hardin County Democrats’ annual kickoff dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Goshen Grange Hall, 18977 CR 120, located at the corner of Hardin County Road 120 and TR 205 east of Kenton.

NEVADA — Nevada United Methodist Church will participate in the National Night Out by hosting a community cookout beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. According to the National Night Out website, it is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, better places to live.

CAREY — Carey author Grayson McKee will host a book-signing event from 4-8 p.m. Aug. 6 on the lawn of the Dorcas Carey Public Library during Carey Fest. McKee will sign copies of his newest book, “Legacy.”
