Walmart plans annual safety carnival July 23

Walmart is hosting a safety carnival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 23 at its Upper Sandusky location. The Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Upper Sandusky police and fire departments and Wyandot County EMS, Health Department, Job and Family Services, Red Cross, Sheriff’s Office and United Way will join Walmart employees for the annual event to benefit Children’s Miracle Network.

USCL releases calendar

The Upper Sandusky Community Library has released its calendar for the month of July. The library will be closed Monday in observance of Independence Day, and the next regular board of trustees meeting is set for 12:15 p.m. Thursday.

Services set at Old Mission

John Stewart United Methodist Church, which oversees Old Mission Church, has released its July worship schedule at the historic mission. Services are open to the public and take place at 8 a.m. Sundays.

Harpster UMW to take Wednesday

HARPSTER — Harpster United Methodist Church will host a tour for United Methodist Women on Wednesday. The tour will leave the church at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

Seneca Muzzle Loaders to visit

McCUTCHENVILLE — The Seneca Muzzle Loaders will stop at the Overland Inn Museum from 1-4:30 p.m. Saturday. Attendees are invited to see historic clothing styles, see the dwellings that were used and learn about skills needed in the past.

Ohio PTA seeks board members

COLUMBUS — Ohio PTA is seeking qualified and motivated people to serve on the Ohio PTA Board of Directors for the 2017-19 term. Elections will be during the 111th Ohio PTA Convention, to be held April 28-30 at DoubleTree Hotel, Columbus.

Counties ‘Stepping Up’ to address mental illness

Ohio has joined a growing national effort to reduce the number of people with mental illness who cycle through county jails. A local team convened in Columbus last week to learn how the national Stepping Up initiative is bringing local criminal justice and behavioral health systems together to improve public safety, access to services and treatment outcomes.
