SYCAMORE — The WAVE Foundation of the Newport Aquarium will bring a live African penguin to the Mohawk Community Library at 2 p.m. Oct. 15. There will be crafts, a discussion on African penguins and a penguin-themed story time beginning at 11 a.m.

St. Paul Lutheran Church will host its annual Oktoberfest from 4-7 p.m. Sunday. The event will include games for youth, food and more.

The Wellness Center at Wyandot Memorial Hospital will offer its Living with Diabetes course to diabetics and their support persons from 5-8:30 p.m. Oct. 19-20 in the Bowman and Kirkland conference rooms on the hospital’s lower level.

TOLEDO — The American Red Cross is urging eligible donors to give blood and platelets this fall to help restock the shelves following a significant summer shortage to ensure an adequate blood supply for patients in need. Upcoming blood drives in Upper Sandusky will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, 885 N. Sandusky Ave.; 12-6 p.m. Wednesday at Fairhaven Community, 850 Marseilles Ave.; and from 12-5 p.m. Friday at the Upper Sandusky Community Library, 301 N. Sandusky Ave.

CAREY — The annual Carey Kiwanis Harvest Festival is slated for 4-6 p.m. Oct. 23 at Memorial Park’s Krupp Pavilion. All donations from the festival will go to Carey Ecumenical Charities.

McCUTCHENVILLE — Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenille will host a baked steak dinner from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 8. The menu includes baked steak, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, coleslaw, corn, rolls, butter and drinks.

Upper Sandusky Middle School has set a goal this school year to collect 100,000 Box Tops to raise $100,000 in a program that helps offset the cost for the school trip to Washington, D.C.
