TOLEDO — The American Red Cross is urging eligible donors to give blood and platelets this fall to help restock the shelves following a significant summer shortage to ensure an adequate blood supply for patients in need. Upcoming blood drives in Upper Sandusky will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, 885 N. Sandusky Ave.; 12-6 p.m. Wednesday at Fairhaven Community, 850 Marseilles Ave.; and from 12-5 p.m. Friday at the Upper Sandusky Community Library, 301 N. Sandusky Ave.

CAREY — The annual Carey Kiwanis Harvest Festival is slated for 4-6 p.m. Oct. 23 at Memorial Park’s Krupp Pavilion. All donations from the festival will go to Carey Ecumenical Charities.

McCUTCHENVILLE — Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenille will host a baked steak dinner from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 8. The menu includes baked steak, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, coleslaw, corn, rolls, butter and drinks.

The Wyandot County Young Professionals on Friday presented a $700 check to founding members of the Upper Sandusky Younger Professionals. The USYP was established to create an organization that offers a readily available opportunity for students attending high school who want to partake in activities related to the pursuit of a career.

TIFFIN — Put-in-Bay in the far north of the Seneca/Wyandot/Put-in-Bay/Sandusky/Crawford High School Quiz Bowl League territory, Buckeye Central in the south and St. Wendelin in the west hosted the matches opening the League’s 2016-17 regular season Sept. 20.

Upper Sandusky Warpole Chapter No. 366 was named an outstanding chapter at the Sept. 24 statewide meeting of the Grand Chapter of Ohio Order of the Eastern Star in Dayton. The award recognizes chapter excellence in the areas of charity and community service, chapter social activities, performance of chapter officers and communications.

United Way of Wyandot County’s annual campaign kicked off Sept. 22 at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. Four-person teams participated in the celebration, which started at 2 p.m. with a nine-hole scramble.
