Birds of prey to visit parks

CRESTLINE — Ohio has many species of raptors, some year-round resident and others passing through. The Crawford Park District will host a program on Ohio’s raptors at 6 p.m. Dec. 15 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 Ohio 598, Crestline.

Riverdale November students

Local students graduate from Kent State KENT — Three area residents were among more than 1,600 students who received bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, associate and educational specialist degrees during Kent State’s 2016 summer commencement ceremony. Local students who graduated were Ian Batton, Carey; Kelli Ciola, LaRue; and Jenna Cory, Bucyrus.

Public asked to collect Box Tops to benefit schools

Upper Sandusky Middle School has set a goal this school year to collect 100,000 Box Tops to raise $100,000 in a program that helps offset the cost for the school trip to Washington, D.C. Box Tops for Education is a program started by General Mills that helps communities provide students the tools needed for success by generating cash that can be used for whatever is needed most.

Red Cross seeks blood donors in winter season

TOLEDO — It cannot be wrapped or placed under a tree, but one gift can help save patient lives this holiday season. The American Red Cross is urging eligible donors to give the lifesaving gift of a blood donation in December, a time when donations decline but the needs of patients remain steady.
