The Wyandot County Council on Aging is taking reservations for those without the ability to go on their own to see the Upper Sandusky Fantasy of Lights. Anyone 60 years or older now can make a reservation to be taken to the Fantasy of Lights on Thursday, Dec. 15 or Dec. 22.

A recent Red Cross bloodmobile at the Elks Lodge in Upper Sandusky collected a total of 51 units of blood with a goal of 47.

CRESTLINE — Ohio has many species of raptors, some year-round resident and others passing through. The Crawford Park District will host a program on Ohio’s raptors at 6 p.m. Dec. 15 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 Ohio 598, Crestline.

Briana Digby and Clayton Hare were recognized as Riverdale’s high school and middle school students of the month, respectively, for November during a recent meeting of the school board. Not pictured but also recognized were elementary students of the month Brody Berger and Maddison Dick.

Local students graduate from Kent State KENT — Three area residents were among more than 1,600 students who received bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, associate and educational specialist degrees during Kent State’s 2016 summer commencement ceremony. Local students who graduated were Ian Batton, Carey; Kelli Ciola, LaRue; and Jenna Cory, Bucyrus.

FOREST — The Kappa chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kathy’s Home Cooking, Forest, with speaker Mandy Baldwin. Reservations may be made with Jean Kearns, Sandy Berry, Diane Orians or Lorrene Roberts.

Upper Sandusky Middle School has set a goal this school year to collect 100,000 Box Tops to raise $100,000 in a program that helps offset the cost for the school trip to Washington, D.C. Box Tops for Education is a program started by General Mills that helps communities provide students the tools needed for success by generating cash that can be used for whatever is needed most.

TOLEDO — It cannot be wrapped or placed under a tree, but one gift can help save patient lives this holiday season. The American Red Cross is urging eligible donors to give the lifesaving gift of a blood donation in December, a time when donations decline but the needs of patients remain steady.
