Household water well program provides loans

FREMONT — Ohio rural homeowners who need to repair or construct new wells may be eligible for a low-interest loan through the household water well program. Administered by the Rural Community Assistance Program, the well program offers a loan of as much as $11,000 for water-well construction or repairs.

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Dec. 22 and is correct as of that date: Pets reported as missing since the previous report that have not been found include a neutered male Labrador-Great Dane mix and a small white spayed female dog.

Sentinel culinary arts, hospitality program receives national honor

TIFFIN — The culinary arts and hospitality management program at Sentinel Career & Technology Center has been named an “Elite 50 Hospitality Program” by Sullivan University. The program was selected from more than 350 secondary school hospitality programs from across the nation that were invited to apply for the honor of being named to the 2017 Elite 50 list.

Local Christmas bird count in need of volunteers Jan. 2

CRESTLINE — Area residents are invited to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season by helping the Crawford Park District with its Audubon Christmas bird count. Attendees will meet at 7 a.m. Jan. 2 at Bucyrus Bob Evans, 1517 N. Sandusky Ave., for one of the world’s longest running citizen science efforts.

Memory loss support to continue

The Wyandot County area support group for caregivers of those with memory loss due to Alzheimer’s disease or other causes will continue to meet through 2017 on the third Tuesday of each month, beginning at noon Jan. 17 at Fairhaven Community, 850 Marseilles Ave.

CAC offering home energy help

FINDLAY — The Home Energy Assistance Program Winter Crisis Program was created to provide financial assistance one time per heating season to income-eligible households that are threatened with disconnection of their heating source, have service already disconnected, need to establish new service or transfer service or have less than a 25 percent supply of bulk fuel.

Eighth Wynford Junior High School students recently were recognized as Royal Leaders for December. Students are nominated by the teachers for displaying habits of highly effective people.

Public invited to join UF choir

FINDLAY — The University of Findlay Concert-Chorale, which includes students and community members, is recruiting choristers for its April 2 spring concert featuring Gabriel Faure’s pieces, including “Requiem.” An audition is required to join the group, but no preparation is necessary.
