President Jean Moon greeted members and seven guests to a recent Wyandot Tracers meeting. Moon read a piece by humorist Erma Bombeck about childhood and how people see things differently as they grow up.

Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International women’s education society recently gave two gift certificates to teachers at Upper Scioto Valley Elementary School for their improvements.

Arthur Cain, 2, recently reached the goal of reading 1,000 books before kindergarten at Forest-Jackson Public Library. Preschoolers may sign up for the program at the library anytime during regular library hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

CAREY — Carey Kiwanis Club will host its preventive health screenings from 7-9 a.m. June 3 at Grace United Methodist Church. Automated CBC, full lipid profile, basic metabolic panel and AST/ALT is $30. The screening checks hemoglobin, white cell count, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides and ratio, glucose (blood sugar), electrolytes, kidney function and liver enzymes.

CAREY — Build a Better World Summer Reading Program for all ages kicks off Tuesday at Dorcas Carey Public Library. Children up to sixth-grade are invited to bingo at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Mondays; face painting is at the same times Tuesdays.

Sisters in Shelter will present a program about human trafficking and modern-day slavery at 6:30 p.m. June 7 at Upper Sandusky Community Library. The nonprofit, Tiffin-based organization provides emergency and transitional housing, trauma and psychological care, and lifeskills training for women who have been victims of human trafficking. Services are provided for minors rescued from human trafficking, who have aged out of the foster system and are left without care and support.

FOREST — The 2017 Tree Town Festival Parade is at 6:30 p.m. July 7. Line-up begins at 5:30 p.m. at the soccer fields on West Dixon Street. Awards will be given for best commercial float, best youth float, best organizational float, best classic car, best antique car, best antique tractor, best-mounted horse and best hitch. A best of show parade award also will be given. Parade judging begins at 6 p.m.
