The Wyandot County Council on Aging’s Seniors on the Go recently returned from an eight-day trip to New England. Among the favorite sights were the Green Mountains of Vermont, Calvin Coolidge’s birthplace, covered bridges, Quechee Gorge and Sugar Bush Farms.

Library hunt ongoing

CAREY — The Dorcas Carey Public Library is hosting a community scavenger hunt during the months of June and July. Stop in at the library to pick up a list of participating businesses.

Humane Society: July 17, 2018

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Monday and is correct as of that date. Pets reported as missing since the last report that have not been found include a spayed female German shepherd-Spitz mix, a neutered male tiger Maine coon cat, a black female Lab-pit bull mix, a black and brown shepherd-Rottweiler mix puppy, a male cream color cat, a yellow and white neutered male cat, a calico kitten, a spayed female tiger and white cat, a tan and black female German shepherd, a black and white neutered male husky, a black and white male husky and a neutered male tiger cat.

Eli and Ezzy Mercer, son and daughter of Matt and Micah Mercer, were the first to turn in their completed coloring pages and enter the coloring contest at the Upper Sandusky Community Library for children from preschool through fifth grade.

1,000 books

Meridith Niederkohr, age 2, completed the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program through The Mohawk Community Library. Her parents are Merril Wilson and Kelsy Niederkohr.

Secret Garden Party set Saturday in Tiffin

TIFFIN — The Children’s Secret Garden Party is from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Grammes-Brown House, 172 Jefferson St., Tiffin. Bring children ages 6-12 to the Tiffin Historic Trust’s garden and let them participate in a variety of garden-themed activities such as a mini-gardening lesson, painting a flower pot or playing a lawn game under the direction of Theresa Sullivan.

Meeting minutes: July 16, 2018

Election of officers took place at the June 11 meeting of the Wyandot County Democratic Party Central Committee meeting. Elected were Bill Evans, chair; Karen Truesdell, vice chair; Joe Swinehart, secretary; Vivian Oney, treasurer; Yvonne Gottfried, Brandon Mooney, Craig Swartz and Polly Woodard, members at large; and Dan Hark, precinct captain Carey B.

America’s Farmers Grow Communities benefits REACH

REACH donation

Wyandot County farmer Brent Gottfried directed a $2,500 donation to REACH as part of the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. As part of their mission, REACH will use the funds to help continue to offer the free hands-on classes to children in kindergarten through fifth grades.
