Mission Church speakers set

Remaining speakers for the Wyandot Mission Church summer preaching schedule have been announced. They are Chief Billy Friend of the Wyandotte Nations on Aug. 12, the Rev. Brian Arnold of John Stewart United Methodist Church on Aug. 19 and the Rev. Denny Livingston on Aug. 26.

MARION — Marion Technical College announced that 167 full-time students and 392 part-time students were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester. To be eligible, students had to have a 3.5 GPA or higher.

Screenings set for Thursday, August 8, 2018

FINDLAY — The Armes Family Cancer Care Center, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, will offer head, neck and skin cancer screenings to the community from 1-4:30 p.m. Thursday. These screenings may be scheduled by appointment only at 419-429-6428, and individuals may schedule one or both screenings.

Book release, signing to be held at Tiffin church

TIFFIN — Liz Darnell will have a book release and signing event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 25 at A Little Faith Ministries Church, 230 S. Washington St., Tiffin, for her new book “Moving Forward with God.” In today's society, people often face the challenge to overcome overwhelming circumstances and struggle with defeated mentalities that often follow.

Opioids not only problem

TIFFIN — While the opioid crisis continues to make headlines, we must ensure that our responses focus not just on opioid addiction, but on all substance use disorders and other addictions. The benefit of having a local mental health and recovery services board is to ensure that programs and services match the community needs and are not one-size fits all across the state or the nation.
