BUCYRUS — The Crawford Park District has announced upcoming events. A water carnival is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 Ohio 598, located 3 miles north of U.S. 30.

BUCYRUS — The Board of Directors of Together We Hurt Together We Heal invites guests to the eighth annual fundraising banquet at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at Calvary United Church of Christ, 511 Heiser Court, Crestline. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Remaining speakers for the Wyandot Mission Church summer preaching schedule have been announced. They are Chief Billy Friend of the Wyandotte Nations on Aug. 12, the Rev. Brian Arnold of John Stewart United Methodist Church on Aug. 19 and the Rev. Denny Livingston on Aug. 26.

CAREY — A back-to-school fun day for preschool through fifth-grade students is 1 p.m. Aug. 16 in the children’s department at the Dorcas Carey Public Library. There will be bingo, crafts and snacks.

MARION — Marion Technical College announced that 167 full-time students and 392 part-time students were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester. To be eligible, students had to have a 3.5 GPA or higher.

This El Camino SS was one of approximately 98 vehicles present at the Nevada car, bike, golf cart and truck show on Sunday afternoon in the Nevada Community Park.

FINDLAY — The Armes Family Cancer Care Center, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, will offer head, neck and skin cancer screenings to the community from 1-4:30 p.m. Thursday. These screenings may be scheduled by appointment only at 419-429-6428, and individuals may schedule one or both screenings.

BUCYRUS — Wynford Junior High will have back-to-school night and new student orientation for seventh through ninth graders from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 14. Seventh- and eighth-grade students will meet in the cafeteria and gymnasium from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

TIFFIN — Liz Darnell will have a book release and signing event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 25 at A Little Faith Ministries Church, 230 S. Washington St., Tiffin, for her new book “Moving Forward with God.” In today's society, people often face the challenge to overcome overwhelming circumstances and struggle with defeated mentalities that often follow.

TIFFIN — While the opioid crisis continues to make headlines, we must ensure that our responses focus not just on opioid addiction, but on all substance use disorders and other addictions. The benefit of having a local mental health and recovery services board is to ensure that programs and services match the community needs and are not one-size fits all across the state or the nation.
