CAREY — The Kiwanis Club of Carey is hosting the Kiwanis Harvest Festival from 4-6 p.m. Sunday in the Krupp Pavilion at Memorial Park. There will be homemade soups, hot dogs.

CAREY — Come join in the Halloween fun at the Dorcas Carey Public Library. A children’s Halloween scavenger hunt for children in preschool through fifth grade is 3:30 p.m. Oct. 29, followed by the movie “Spooky Buddies,” which runs for 80 minutes.

FOREST — “Cut the Craft” will be held at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Forest-Jackson Public Library. Adults and teens are invited to make a wood slice pumpkin.

The Wyandot County Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development, Republican Party and Democrat Party are hosting a town hall meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. The event is open to the public and is an opportunity to meet candidates and hear about local levies and state Issues.

Once again it’s time for VFW and Auxiliary scholarships writing contests Patriot’s Pen for sixth through eighth grades and Voice of Democracy for ninth through 12th grades. Upper Sandusky, Carey, Mohawk and Riverdale students interested in writing an essay for consideration may get entry forms online and drop the entries off at either the Upper Sandusky or Carey posts.

FINDLAY — The Blanchard Valley Health Foundation recently granted more than $38,000 to Caughman Health Center, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System that provides family practice and pediatric care to area residents, regardless of their ability to pay.

The Wyandot County Retired Teachers Association will meet at noon Tuesday at Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky. This month’s program will be presented by Robin Rayfield, executive director of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association.

Todd Gongwer, author of “Lead ... for God’s Sake!” is hosting two speaking events on Nov. 14 at Trinitiy Evangelical United Methodist Church, 108 Malabar Drive, Upper Sandusky. The first event is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes lunch for $10.

The American Legion Auxiliary Post 225 meeting was recently called to order on Oct. 1. by President Sharon Huffman. The meeting opened with The Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Huffman.

GRANVILLE — The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program has invited Ohio students and teachers to creatively demonstrate their energy knowledge during National Energy Awareness Month. The U.S. Department of Energy made the designation to emphasize the importance of energy and energy production to our nation’s economic prosperity, security and quality of life.
