Fransican Earth Literacy Center gets Walmart grant

TIFFIN — The Franciscan Earth Literacy Center has announced another 2019 partnership project. The FELC received the following notice from the Walmart Community Grants Team and Facility No. 1622: “We are pleased to inform you that your Community Grant application has been selected to receive a $1,500 grant. We are thrilled to support your work in our communities and share your desire to provide local impact. By receiving this grant, you are part of a long history of Walmart’s commitment to giving back to the communities where we operate. In fact, Mrs. Helen Walton used to say ‘It’s not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.’”

Prostate support group to meet

The Wyandot County Prostate Cancer Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 for an open forum on topics of interest to those in attendance in the Conference Room on the lower level of Wyandot Memorial Hospital. The Wyandot County Prostate Cancer Support Group is a locally-organized support group for men of all ages.

HEAP winter heating assistance available

FINDLAY — The Hancock Hardin Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission’s HEAP 2019 Winter Crisis Program began Nov. 1 and continues through March 31 – as long as funds remain available. This program was created to provide financial assistance, one time per heating season, to income eligible households who are threatened with disconnection of their heating source, have service already disconnected, need to establish new service, seek to transfer service or have less than a 25 percent supply of bulk fuel.

Crawford Humane Society to play Bingo on Jan. 4

BUCYRUS — The Humane Society Serving Crawford County started a weekly bingo game 30 years ago to fund daily operations at their humane shelter. Every Wednesday night since and on several Fabulous Fridays a year, a loyal following of animal loving bingo players have let their money “go to the dogs.”
