GRANVILLE — The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program and the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Foundation are accepting first-time and renewal applications for their 2019 Oil and Gas Energy Education Scholarships now through March 1.

Did you know that, according to the National Institute of Drug Abuse, after alcohol, marijuana is the most commonly used drug when driving? And that driving under the influence of over-the-counter medications, prescription drugs, marijuana or other illegal drugs is just as dangerous as drinking and driving?

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Monday and is correct as of that date. Pets reported as missing since the last report that have not been found include a tri-color male English shepherd, a black and white male mastiff-Lab mix, an older brown male Pomeranian, a red and white spayed female Shiba Inu dog and a black and white border collie.

TOLEDO — The American Red Cross is reissuing its emergency call for blood and platelet donors to give now after multiple snow storms, frigid temperatures and the government shutdown further reduced lifesaving donations. In January, more than 4,600 Red Cross blood and platelet donations went uncollected as blood drives were forced to cancel due to severe winter weather blanketing parts of the U.S., and additional cancellations were expected this week.

FINDLAY — A special drawing for youth interested in turkey hunting will be held March 23 at the Lake La Su An Wildlife Area headquarters, 9455 County Road R, Pioneer, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.  Youth age 17 and younger may participate.

BUCYRUS — Brian Waters from Ohio State University food science will present on home brewing beers from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Crawford County Courthouse lower level conference room. He will be discussing the brewing process of making all grain mash beers and how different ingredients change the flavor. Additional presentations will be on growing some of the ingredients for the brewing process from hops to flavoring.

An Economic Forecast Breakfast hosted by Baker Financial Group is Tuesday at the Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky. This breakfast has several speakers scheduled who will be covering various topics including Ohio legislative, state workforce initiative and a financial market update.

A series of three one-hour long programs is being offered by the SNAP-Ed program assistant from the Wyandot County Ohio State University Extension service. Tami Baumberger once again will conduct a series of Cooking with Tami sessions at the Open Door Resources Center in Upper Sandusky.

KENTON — The next Conservation Tillage Club breakfast program series is Tuesday at the Plaza Inn Restaurant in Mt. Victory. The session start at 7:30 a.m. with a complimentary buffet breakfast, followed by the program at 8 a.m. The final session is Feb. 19.
