Meeting minutes: March 23, 2019

The Mohawk Area Women’s Literary Club met March 4 at the Mohawk Community Library. President Elaine Kern welcomed those present and shared Irish jokes and riddles to open the meeting. Fourteen members answered roll call by sharing memories of World War II.

Kappa Chapter visits Wyandot Memorial

Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met at Wyandot Memorial Hospital on March 9. Ann Kemerley greeted the members and led them to the physical, occupational and speech therapy department of the hospital where she introduced Fortune Bormuth, their resident exercise physiologist. Bormuth distributed folders containing information about benefits in gaining fitness.

Human trafficking seminar to be held April 1

CAREY — The International Labor Organization estimates there are 20.9 million victims of human trafficking globally, with hundereds of thousands in the U.S. Join Wyandot County Sheriff Mike Hetzel, Ryan Scheiderer from the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and Beth Bullock from R.E.A.C.H. for Tomorrow for a seminar on Human Trafficking at 7 p.m. April 1 at the Carey High School Auditorium, 2016 Blue Devil Drive, Carey.

Dallas String Quartet to play at Bucyrus school

BUCYRUS — Great seats are still available for the Dallas String Quartet’s performance at 7 p.m. April 8 at the Bucyrus Elementary School Auditorium, 245 Woodlawn Ave., Bucyrus. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Comprised of composer and violinist Ion Zanca, violinists Eleanor Dunbar and Melissa Priller, bassist Young Heo, guitarist Anthony Plant and percussionist/drummer Efren Guzman, DSQ takes you on a journey to the nexus of classical music and modern pop where artists like Beethoven and Bono collide.

Baker earns Court of the Table honor

Wynford’s annual luncheon is April 7

BUCYRUS — Wynford Local School District’s annual Community Luncheon is 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 7 at the high school cafeteria. All Wynford residents, employees, graduates and alumni of Wynford, Holmes Liberty, Lykens, Mount Zion and Nevada, as well as supporters of Wynford Schools are invited.

Local students part of AU clubs ASHLAND — Derek Wentling and Brayden Wentling, of Carey, are members of the sports business club at Ashland University. Derek Wentling, a 2016 graduate of Carey High School, and Brayden Wentling, a 2018 graduate of Carey High School, are both majoring in sport management.
