The Upper Sandusky Community Library held a special day of appreciation Friday in honor of librarian Cheryl Lyons’ 25 years of service. Lyon said she only worked eight hours per week when she first started but took on more and more responsibilities over the years.

Mohawk Elementary has accepted a challenge from Bucyrus High School Student Council to collect pop can tabs to support The Ronald McDonald House. This will consist of students collecting pop tabs and bringing them into school.

BUCYRUS — Great seats are still available for the Dallas String Quartet’s performance at 7 p.m. Monday, April 8 at the Bucyrus Elementary School Auditorium, 245 Woodlawn Ave., Bucyrus. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Comprised of composer and violinist Ion Zanca, violinists Eleanor Dunbar and Melissa Priller, bassist Young Heo, guitarist Anthony Plant and percussionist/drummer Efren Guzman, DSQ takes you on a journey to the nexus of classical music and modern pop where artists like Beethoven and Bono collide.

FOREST — The Forest-Jackson Public Library will host its annual Ladies Luncheon at noon April 12 at the library. Speaker Ben Sapp from the Mazza Museum in Findlay will discuss art in children’s literature.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk Preschool Registration will start April 1. Forms can be picked up at the elementary office or found on the school website to be printed off.

TIFFIN — The Seneca County Genealogical Society will be meeting 6:30 p.m. April 2 at the Seneca County Recorder’s Office, in the RTA Building, 109 S. Washington Street, Suite 2104 in Tiffin. The program presented will be “Land Records in Seneca County; an Important Part of Your Genealogical Search.”

Upper Sandusky was named a 2018 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. The community also received a Tree City USA Growth Award for demonstrating environmental improvement and higher level of tree care.

BUCYRUS — The Crawford Park District has announced its spring program schedule. Homeschool in Nature: Wildflowers is 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. April 4 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 Ohio 598. Spring wildflowers will be popping up throughout the park. Rain or shine, the homeschoolers of the Crawford Park District are going to take a hike to see how many spring flowers they can find.

SYLVANIA — The Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund is accepting applications for the 2019-20 school year for need-based scholarships for grades kindergarten through eighth grade worth up to $1,500 for children to use at a nonpublic school or $500 for homeschool expenses.
