Men’s Breakfast to feature OSU player BUCYRUS — A former Ohio State football player and nationally known speaker will speak at to Woodlawn United Methodist Church’s men’s breakfast at 7 a.m. June 12 at the Bucyrus Community Hospital cafeteria. Joel Penton, a graduate of the Ohio State University who played five years of football for the Buckeyes, and who now serves as executive director for “Stand for Truth,” will speak about the program, which takes the Gospel to America’s public schools and has reached 1,000 communities and 1,000,000 students in the last 10 Years. OSU begins new Alzheimer’s clinical trial COLUMBUS — A new clinical trial at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and two other sites is testing an innovative procedure that may provide hope in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. The non-invasive procedure uses low-intensity focused ultrasound to open the blood-brain barrier, a protective layer that shields the brain from infections or pathogens in the blood. However, this barrier also makes it nearly impossible to deliver therapeutics to the brain to treat neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Read More
