Young readers took part in the annual Slime Time event Tuesday at Gormley Park in Forest as part of the Forest-Jackson Library's summer reading program. Teams were divided and asked a series of questions, many based on authors or characters in books.

MARION — Marion Technical College congratulates a dozen students who graduated from the Peace Officer Basic Training Academy. After a year of study and preparation, 100% passed the Ohio Police Officer Training Academy exam.

Come under the oaks again this summer, now through the last Sunday of August at the Wyandot Mission Church. The church is open for tours on Saturdays and hosts an 8 a.m. morning worship service on Sundays.

FINDLAY — The University of Findlay recently held commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 4. More than 800 graduates earned doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s or associate degrees for the academic year 2018-19.

Wyandot County Community Foundation will now be accepting applications for its 2019 Grant Program and will be awarding grants to Wyandot County 501(c)(3) organizations, schools or governmental units to support their programs.

Warpole Chapter No. 366, OES recently held a visitation by the Worthy Grand Matron, Kelly Cholodewitsch and Worthy Grand Patron, Dennis Lawson and a reception honoring the 2019 Chairman of Arraignments, Debra Pool. Guests introduced at this meeting were the Cholodewitsch and Lawson who were presented honorary memberships into the Warpole chapter by Pool (past grand), Frank Clifton (worshipful master of Anchor Lodge No. 283 and David Sexton, both patrons; Marilyn Rowley and Gayle Sutherin (grand treasurer), both past grand matrons; and JoAnn Hastings and Gail Walsh (grand trustee).
