Arc scholarships awarded

Arc of Wyandot County held its monthly meeting at the Harrison Smith Park pool Sunday night, recognizing the recipients of the Bob, Dorothy and Kyle Hussey Memorial Scholarships. The recipients were (above, from left) Leah Crawford, Ayana Getz and Ashley Canom, all of Upper Sandusky.

Train show set to be held in Galion Aug 24

GALION — The Friends of The Big Four Depot is sponsoring its first Train Show and Swap Meet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 24 at the St. Joseph Activity Center, 115 N. Liberty St., Galion. The show will feature all gauge types with Railaoma, models, models supplies, scenery boods, moves and items that will help in the railroad hobby.

WHOW event to discuss human trafficking and women’s self defense tips and moves

NEVADA — After the success of the first Women Helping Other Women series in January, the group is pleased to announce a summer event, from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 15 at White Shutter Winery in rural Nevada. The event will feature two speakers, Megan Bair, C.N.M. from Wyandot Memorial Hospital, who will speak on human trafficking; and BJ Dunn from Carey, who will speak about women’s self defense and demonstrate some basic self-defense moves.

Heacock, Hawkins to wed in September

Maureen Heacock of Dublin and Larry Hawkins of Harpster, recently announced their engagement and upcoming nuptials Sept. 21, 2019. The ceremony will be held at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky. The bride-to-be is a daughter of Mark and Carolyn Heacock of Crestline. She is a 2008 graduate of Wynford High School and a 2012 graduate of Ashland University. She serves as admissions coordinator at Buckeye Terrace Nursing Home in Westerville.
