Meeting minutes: August 10, 2019

The July 10 meeting of the PERI Chapter No. 88 was called to order by President Ruth Reier in the Wyandot Memorial Hospital Bowen-Kirkland room with 15 members present. Ruth led the group in the Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library’s Friends of the Library recently purchased early learning board books. The books will be given to babies up to 6 months of age through its Born to Read program in conjunction with Wyandot Memorial Hospital.

Carey Shrine’s annual Novena currently underway

CAREY — The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey welcomes everyone to join them now through Aug. 14 for the annual novena to Our Lady of Consolation in preparation for the feast of her Assumption. The annual celebration of Mary’s Assumption into heaven is the largest event at the Shrine.

20th annual Flag City BalloonFest begins today

FINDLAY — The Flag City BalloonFest will host its 20th hot air balloon festival Aug. 9 – 11 at Emory Adams Park in Findlay. Spectators can look forward to a number of new events and enjoy returning favorites. While some activities have minimal fees, the Flag City BalloonFest has no admission or parking fees thanks to its generous sponsors.

The Keller Scholarships were presented July 14, during the worship service at Mount Zion United Methodist Church by the Keller Family to Bailey Alspach and Emily Dotson. Emily is a MFA grad student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, getting her Masters in theatre and film production and design. She has completed a scenic painting internship with the Seattle Repertory Theater and is interning at the Mansfield Renaissance Theater for the production of Matilda. She hopes to be a set designer for the television industry upon graduation.
