Cooling assistance offered to low-income households The HHWP Community Action Commission will help income-eligible Ohioans stay cool during the hot summer months. The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program began July 1 and will run until Aug. 31, 2019. The Summer Crisis Program provides assistance to low-income households with an elderly member (60 years or older), or households that can provide physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member's health. In 2018, HHWP assisted 439 households in Hancock, Hardin, Wyandot, and Putnam Counties with utility bill assistance via the Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program. Additionally, 179 air conditioners, 269 fans, and 2 AC repairs for low-income seniors and individuals with health conditions that required cooling were provided. Read More
