ATTICA — They were a little slow to start, but once they got up to speed, the Rams had no problem maintaining their pace. Upper Sandusky’s starters took it to Seneca East for three quarters before ceding to the reserves down the stretch of a 75-37 win on the road Friday night.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk’s Shay Miller tried to take Friday night’s game against her former teammates at Wynford just like any other. A transfer from the Royals to the Warriors, she had by far the best game of her season with 17 points to lead Mohawk to a 44-28 victory.

The barn that houses the horses owned by junior fair exhibitors during the Wyandot County Fair received a makeover during the past few weeks. A $15,000 donation from Upper’s Winter Fantasy of Lights to the horse barn committee assisted in covering the total project cost of $19,675 to give the barn new siding, windows and repairs to some structural issues.

Upper Sandusky Mayor Scott Washburn held his annual state of the city address Thursday at Fairhaven Community. Washburn spoke to a full room filled with community members, city employees, elected officials and his grandmother and parents.

CAREY — In its second year, the Carey Teen Leadership Corps is expanding its outreach. The group of students recently organized a fundraiser to combat cancer that was held during last weekend’s basketball doubleheader.

SYCAMORE — Approximately 30 landowners or representatives attended a meeting at the Mohawk Community Library on Tuesday evening and heard a presentation by the Wyandot County Soil and Water Conservation District. A public forum was held to further inform landowners whose properties are located in a watershed that drains into a ditch with a proposed group project known as the Wahrer Group Ditch Reconstruction Project.

CAREY — The Carey Area Chamber of Commerce will continue to serve Carey and the surrounding community moving forward, Director Cassie Carlson said during Monday’s annual meeting.

The Wyandot County Board of Commissioners, Board of Elections and election poll workers met in the Wyandot County Courthouse on Tuesday to hear a presentation on new technology available for checking in voters on Election Day.

The Upper Sandusky Rotary Club is working to provide dozens of Wyandot County children in need with frocks and goodies for Easter. The Good Egg project helps about 100 children ages 14 and younger each year.

CAREY — Mayor Armand Getz highlighted progress in the village of Carey in his state of the village address during the Carey Area Chamber of Commerce annual dinner Monday at Dance on Vance. He also said he plans to retire from politics.
