Upper Sandusky has not tasted defeat in the regular season in a long time. On Thursday, the Rams scored the first 12 points of the game to put any doubt of a loss against Galion out of question.

FINDLAY — Anyone who faces the Liberty-Benton girls basketball team is facing a team that ranks in the top three of the Blanchard Valley Conference in team 2-point shooting percentage and 3-point shooting percentage as well as team rebounds, steals and assists.

ASHLAND — The Upper Sandusky girls swimming teams defeated Ashland, 94-68, while the boys lost, 102-66, on Thursday at Ashland University. “Ashland’s boys team has a good group of state level competitors and it was good to give our swimmers experience swimming against that level of competition,” Upper Sandusky coach Justin Richardson said in an email.

The 2017 Home for the Holidays celebration kicks off tonight with a wreath auction and will continue through the weekend with activities for youth, adults and families.

GALION — Upper Sandusky wrestling opened its season with a 65-9 victory against Marion Harding and then dropped a close 46-36 decision to host Northmor in a quad Wednesday night. Mansfield Senior also participated but did not face the Rams.

A car fire was put out with the help of multiple Upper Sandusky departments Tuesday afternoon. A Wharton woman was on her way back from Fairhaven Community when she said smoke began pouring out of the engine of her 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix.

BUCYRUS — It was not Bucyrus’ best effort, but one good quarter was enough to improve to 3-0. The Redmen outscored Wynford by 20 points in the second quarter and took a 56-42 victory on Tuesday night.

It’s not just Upper Sandusky senior guard Abigail Fogle’s 3-point shooting that makes the Upper Sandusky girls basketball team so difficult to defend, even when they’re behind. Trailing Tiffin Columbian by seven points early in the first quarter, Fogle got open in the left corner and buried her first 3-pointer of the night.

The Wyandot County Council on Aging is all aboard this week with a Polar Express train theme. The Council on Aging’s main lobby is decorated with railroad signs and three model trains complete with miniature villages are set up in the main lobby. Even the Christmas tree has model train ornaments and is topped by a conductor’s hat and a bandana instead of the traditional star.

Several local celebrities were put behind bars Friday for a good cause. The fourth annual Jail and Bail took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in Upper Sandusky. A temporary prison was set up on the Wyandot County Courthouse lawn and local celebrities were put in jail until “bail money” was raised to release them.
