WOOSTER — A Wyandot County family was honored for its impact on the Ohio sheep industry recently at the Buckeye Shepherd’s Symposium in Wooster. Al Kin and his sons, Jim and Phil, owners of Kin Brothers Corriedales in rural Forest, were named the 2017 Charles Boyles Master Shepherd by the Ohio Sheep Improvement Association and the Ohio Sheep and Wool Program.

In a game featuring a pair of teams that defend well but sometimes struggle to score, Ridgedale made 23 foul shots in 29 attempts to top Mohawk, 51-46, and assure itself a sixth-place finish in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball standings.

The question Thursday night was, would the Seneca East boys basketball team be able to handle Upper Sandusky’s full court pressure? As it turns out, forcing turnovers in a full court press wasn’t the only way the Rams found success defensively against the Tigers.

Carey High School senior Destiny DeFeo signed her national letter of intent to play basketball at Heidelberg University. “I got the chance to meet the team and they were really nice and I like them,” DeFeo said.

Fairhaven Community held a special dedication ceremony Wednesday in honor of one of its most treasured contributors. In memory of Robby Lee, a board member of United Church Homes who died unexpectedly in October, the auditorium was renamed the Robert P. Lee Fellowship Hall.
