CAREY — Carey’s girls and Wynford’s boys won a quad-meet Monday at Carey. The Blue Devils girls won easily with a 97-64 advantage over Bucyrus, while Crestline edged Wynford for third, 33-31.

What started as a single festival has grown into six community events this spring to help support St. Peter School in Upper Sandusky. “We really wanted to bring the community together and get everyone involved with some fun events to provide the opportunity for fellowship,” Matthew Arnold, one of the event organizers, said.

CAREY — With wind chills below freezing, it was not a pleasant afternoon for softball Friday at Carey Water Works Park. Even more so for Mohawk, which struggled to handle the strong wind on multiple fly balls while committing eight errors in a 10-0 loss to rival Carey in Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball play.

CAREY — Heading into Friday’s game, the Carey baseball team faced two formidable opponents — a 40 degree temperature coupled with a steady, 20 mph wind, and Mohawk’s Rico Lopez, whose ERA was 1.84 last season, the sixth lowest in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference.

The Wyandot County Commissioners voted Thursday to move forward with a proposed Cano-Harpster tile petition project during a public hearing at Gottfied Nature Center. Jeff Hohman of Wyandot County Soil and Water Department led the meeting.

CAREY — Carey senior pitcher Blayc Hacker has never lost to Colonel Crawford. Hacker, who entered Thursday’s softball game with four career wins against the Eagles, tossed a complete game shutout with no runs, two hits, 10 strikeouts and two walks to lead the Blue Devils to a 5-0 victory over the Eagles at Water Works Park.

Fun times were had Tuesday evening as the 15th annual Wyandot Indians versus Wyandot County Community All-Stars basketball game was held at Upper Sandusky High School. The event celebrated the end of March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
