A significant amount of help is on the way for people struggling with the opioid epidemic in Wyandot County. A federal grant will provide the medication Vivitrol at the Firelands location in Upper Sandusky for people wishing to overcome an opioid addiction through Targeted Capacity Expansion: Medication Assisted Treatment - Prescription Drug and Opioid Addiction Program.

Improved clutch hitting. Less stranded runners. Better pitching. Not committing as many errors as they were early in the season. These are all areas in which Upper Sandusky baseball coach Scott Emerick sees improvement in the midst of the Rams’ five-game winning streak.

CAREY — The Carey baseball team built a six-run lead, saw it disappear when it gave up nine runs in the fifth inning and then rallied with a five-run sixth inning to beat Bucyrus, 12-10, on Wednesday in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game.

NEVADA — The White Shutter Winery’s new owners Jake and Kerri Thiel celebrated the opening of their remodeled barn Tuesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony. A grand opening event will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Upper Sandusky Salon Lofts welcomed a new hair stylist on Monday. Brodie Johns, a 2014 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, will be offering his services from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m Mondays and Tuesdays.

Senior Connection hosted a special Italian dinner party Wednesday titled “A Taste of Tuscany.” Attendees enjoyed Italian-themed appetizers, soup, salad, a dinner of lasagna, ravioli and chicken fettuccine followed by a desert of fruit with cheesecake cupcakes.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale’s girls were second and the boys third Tuesday in the Hardin County Invitational at Riverdale. Kenton’s girls topped Riverdale, 167-142, while the Wildcats boys won with a 154.5-126 advantage over Ada.
