TIFFIN — Just like two years ago, Wynford’s boys sprinters just keep getting better. The Royals qualified both the 400 and 800 relays for the finals of regionals, along with Alizhah Watson in the 400 dash, on Wednesday in Division III action at Tiffin Columbian’s Frost-Kalnow Stadium.

The new Robby Lee Memorial Courts at Bicentennial Park in Upper Sandusky will be broken in with a tournament this July. Cory Miller, a 2016 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, is organizing the Robby Lee 3-on-3 Tournament for July 7.

AKRON — In its first regional appearance since 2012, the Mohawk softball team faces an East Canton team that has advanced to the regional semifinals despite losing six seniors from last season’s team that finished as a district runner-up.

Most of the hard work has been completed. Now it’s time to actually fund the Wyandot County Infirmary Cemetery Memorial. The project began thanks in part to concerned citizens.

Eric Stansberry, owner of Jasper Repair and Chuck Pahl of Pahl’s Premium Construction donated labor and materials to help hang flower baskets of Jeff Trautwein’s wave petunias at the Wyandot County Courthouse entrance Friday night and flowers were planted on both sides of the courthouse as part of the continuing beautification project started in 2017 by Linda DeBolt and Janice Woods.

BUCYRUS — Not only did Walsh University offer Wynford High School senior Cole Heinlen the opportunity to continue his football career, but the chance to pursue his dream job as well. Heinlen recently signed his letter of intent to play football at Division II Walsh University in North Canton.

NEVADA – Maggie Wisda and Kip Kinn were the overall female and male winners, respectively, of White Shutter Winery’s 5K race held last Saturday with 52 participants either taking part in the 5K, a 1-mile fun run or a 0-K for people who wanted to contribute.

McCUTCHENVILLE — Three people were injured in a house fire along Ohio 53 on the north side of McCutchenville Sunday morning. Chief Rodney Clinger of Sycamore Fire and Rescue said all three occupants of the home, Brandon and Christina Tong, and their son, were able to evacuate the building before emergency services arrived.
