SYCAMORE — A memorial bench was dedicated in a ceremony for former Sycamore Police officer William “Bill” Clady on Monday in downtown Sycamore. Clady served the village of Sycamore from 1979 until his retirement in 2003. He died Feb. 1, 2017, at age 73.

NEVADA — A dedication ceremony was held Saturday morning at the Eden Township House in rural Nevada for the Pieces of History Monument, which was completed within the last year. It was called Pieces of History because the final monument included a brass bell from Eden Chapel Church, a stone from the one-room Maple Grove School, a 1931 board of education plaque with a map of all the one-room Eden Township schools and stones from the exterior of Eden School.

Findlay held its annual Flag City BalloonFest from Friday to Sunday at Emory Adams Park. Forty different hot air balloon pilots and their teams were in attendance from as far away as Las Vegas and Florida.

With the help of the Upper Sandusky community, Jonathan Distel and his wife April were able to spread a positive message and good deeds on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic last week. Jonathan Distel, who works as a manager at AJ’s Heavenly Pizza in Upper Sandusky, raised some of the money for his trip via a donation jar at the AJ’s checkout counter.

Balanced Carey tops Riverdale

CAREY — Carey posted four scores in the 40s to take a 176-198 victory against Riverdale in a non-conference boys golf dual match Friday at Bob’s Countryside Golf Course. Ethan Tanner led the Blue Devils (1-0) with a 41, followed by a 43 from McKain Miller.

DeAnn Funkhouser is entertaining some unique guests at her recently-opened Airbnb “Good Thyme on the Farm” near Harpster. A crew for AEP is doing tree trimming this week near power lines in Wyandot County with the pictured heavy saw blades that hang below its helicopter.
