Pack earns return trip to state

Regional finalist

PIQUA — Shane Pack wasn’t at his best, but he was good enough to advance. A state placer in the discus last year, Pack will be back in Columbus for the same event next week after tossing a throw of 147-3 in the Division II regional track and field competition at Piqua on Thursday.

Union Elementary students in kindergarten through third grade participated in field day at the school’s playground Tuesday afternoon. Union boosters donated funds to supply two bounce houses and free snow cones from Snowie.

FINDLAY — Carey’s run to the regional finals last year may have been considered by some a fluke, but there is no denying the Blue Devils have arrived as a small-school softball power after winning their second straight Division IV district championship Saturday.

MARION — Each year, Levi Brown, Riverdale’s technology and applied engineering teacher, attends the Ohio Technology and Engineering Educators Association Tech Conference. As he has done in the past, Brown took some of his students’ projects with him to this year’s conference in Marion to be judged along with projects from students all across the state. The results blew him away.
