FOSTORIA — Certainly some of it had to do with Tiffin Calvert, but Mohawk did not look itself Thursday. The Senecas rallied from a first-set deficit and then handed the Warriors their only sweep of the season, 25-23, 25-15, 25-22, in the Division IV district final at Fostoria.

The Wyandot County Board of Health is proposing a .7-mill replacement levy this November. “This levy will take the place of our current .7-mill levy and our .3-mill levy,” Director of Environmental Health Jeff Ritchey said.

FINDLAY — The Ashland Crestview girls soccer team has only allowed 17 goals all season, although seven of the 17 came in one game, a loss to Lexington. On Wednesday, the Riverdale girls soccer team found out just how difficult it can be to try to score a goal against Crestview.

The Wyandot County Council on Aging is on the ballot this November with a five-year, .8-mill renewal levy. The renewal levy is not a new tax and will continue the original levy passed both in 2009 and 2013.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Emotions were running high during the Riverdale Local School District Board of Education meeting on Monday, the first meeting since the school district lost senior Katelyn Martin, who died in a car accident Oct. 12.

FINDLAY — There were few tears after Carey’s Division IV district semifinal loss to McComb on Monday night at Findlay. While it was the end of the season, it was not the end of the careers for any of the Blue Devils team that has no seniors, and they had shown just how good they might be next year by hanging tough with the No. 2 seed Panthers in the 25-17, 22-25, 25-17, 25-20 loss.

FOSTORIA — Even when the New Riegel volleyball team’s outside and middle hitters hit or tipped the ball to the precise spot on the floor they hoped to, the Mohawk Warriors picked it up and ran offense with it. And many of those times, a kill by Mohawk senior outside hitters Madi Chester or Kaylee Ward or by middle hitters Paityn Clouse or Emma Myers-Huffman quickly ensued.
