Clifford’s family helps students with annual 5K

Honoring Clifford's memory featured featured

Now in its sixth year, the 2019 Tammy Clifford Memorial 5K, 5 p.m. Saturday at the Upper Sandusky New Reservoir, holds special meaning for the students planning it and for Clifford’s family. Trevor Clifford was in middle school when his mother Tammy Clifford died. Now a senior, the funds raised through the 5K will go directly toward scholarships to help his graduating class.

No. 6 hitter and designated player hit a go-ahead two-out, two run double in the third inning and a two-out game-winning single in the seventh to lift Vermilion to a 5-4 victory against Upper Sandusky in a Division II sectional final softball game Saturday at Upper Sandusky.

SYCAMORE — A Mohawk preschool teacher recently earned a grant for classroom supplies after placing in an essay competition. First-year teacher Taylor Gillig submitted an application to the We Reward Innovative Teaching Endeavors Grant program through FriendsOffice, which is a concept designed to reward passionate, qualified and talented teachers with unique classroom supplies.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk showed just how good it can be if it can get strong pitching to go with its consistently powerful offense. MaKenna Hurley limited Wynford to three hits without a walk and struck out six as the Warriors rolled past Wynford 11-1 in five innings in a Division IV sectional final game Thursday in Sycamore.
