A line of military vehicles sporting patriotic flags can be seen making its way to USHS. The convoy travels at top speed of 35 miles per hour and had 50 military vehicles, 10 support vehicles and 130 participants.

The national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign brings fresh awareness annually to the dangers of drunk and impaired driving. The Wyandot County Safe Communities Coalition teamed up with local law enforcement Friday to kick-off the campaign, which continues through Labor Day, Sept. 2, with a booth at the U.S. 23 northbound rest stop between Upper Sandusky and Carey.

Recycling center, waste management district celebrate 30 years

The Wyandot County Solid Waste Management District and Recycling Center celebrated 30 years of service Friday with an open house for the community. Attendees were given a voucher for a free lunch and signed up for door prizes including a toy garbage truck, Speedway gift cards, eco-friendly Nano towels, and a recycled lunch box, among others. Republic services also had a touch-a-truck station in front of the recycling center, where children could sit in the front seat.

TIFFIN — Led by Gabby Johnson’s 96, the Wynford girls golf team took seventh place among 13 teams Friday in the Tiffin Invitational at Seneca Hills Golf Club. Ashland dominated the field with a 308, with second-place Shelby 55 strokes back with a 363. The Royals shot a 424, while Mohawk came in 11th with a 487.

WHOW event educates area women about human trafficking, self-defense techniques

NEVADA — The Wyandot County-based Women Helping Other Women group educated area women about human trafficking and self-defense at its summer event Thursday night at White Shutter Winery in Nevada. Certified nurse midwife Megan Bair with Wyandot Memorial Hospital spoke about human trafficking, explaining how it happens, who it happens to and how to identify someone who is being trafficked in order to offer help.
