MOUNT BLANCHARD — Looking to hold on to a comfortable 28-point lead over Hardin Northern going into halftime at home, Riverdale gave up a 33-yard passing touchdown with just four seconds to go in the half. The touchdown swayed momentum toward the Polar Bears, who scored 14 unanswered points in the second half, but the Riverdale defense buckled down and held on for the 28-20 non-conference victory on Friday.

MOUNT GILEAD — Penalties were the only thing holding back Upper Sandusky’s offense on Friday night, and even then, the Rams often were able to overcome their errors. Mason Vent threw for 321 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Rams to a 41-21 victory against Mount Gilead on Friday night at Mount Gilead.

Mohawk Local School District welcomes six

New Mohawk teachers

SYCAMORE — Mohawk Local School District welcomes six new teachers ranging from preschool to 10th grade for the 2019-20 school year. They are Danielle Stansbery, Mary Ann Kaple, Mike Haynes, Marissa Bott, Lauren McKinness and Becca McConnell. Both Haynes and McConnell have previous experience with the district.

New in school

The Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School District has welcomed five new full-time educators into the district, along with several other first-year employees in other positions. Among the new educators are four teachers and a guidance counselor assistant. The new educators hold positions at three different schools in the district, from elementary to high school, and have varying previous experience. They are Jevon Cheney, Melissa Cunningham, Ailsa Dible, Hannah Foster and Janis Owens.
