CALEDONIA — Coby Miller and Logan Frey scored two goals each as Riverdale took an easy 7-1 victory against River Valley in boys soccer play Monday at River Valley. The Falcons (9-0-3) had only 10 shots on goal but converted all but three of them.

NEVADA — An Upper Sandusky man announced his candidacy for Ohio State Senate Saturday afternoon at a fundraiser hosted by the Wyandot County Democratic Party. Craig Swartz, a former Upper Sandusky City Council member, announced he was running to represent the 26th District of the Ohio General Assembly for the Ohio 2020 election during the Wyandot County Democratic Party fundraiser at the White Shutter Winery.

Kenton takes advantage of 1st-half free kicks to beat Riverdale 3-1

Kenton made the most of two first-half free kicks, putting them in the back of the net on its way to a 3-1 win over Riverdale on Saturday afternoon in girls soccer action. “For the girls, this is the biggest game of the year,” Kenton coach Ali Manley said. “For me, the WBL games mean more. But the girls are fired up for a win against them, so to them, it meant a lot.”

USMS 7th grade math teacher recognized

A seventh grade math teacher at Upper Sandusky Middle School is the recipient of the 2019 Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics Middle School Teacher Award for Northwest Ohio. Sarah Richards is one of two middle school teachers in Northwest Ohio receiving the award, according to Elizabeth Oberlander, Northwest District Director of the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics, noting there are eight districts in the state of Ohio.
