Norman R. Gottfried, of Salem Township, Wyandot County, died at 11:43 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky. He was 92.
Born Aug. 2, 1921 in Salem Township, he was a son of the late Arthur E. and Blanche M. (Best) Gottfried.
Mr. Gottfried is survived by two brothers, A. David (Barbara) Gottfried and Charles (Jean) Gottfried, both of Upper Sandusky; and three sisters, Beulah (Clair) Bishop, Findlay; Arabel (Charles) Frisch, Forest; and Margaret (Eugene) Chandler, Upper Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and Russell Gottfried; and two sisters, Florence Beidelschies and Arlene Walton.
Mr. Gottfried was a lifelong retired farmer and president of Trigo Inc. In his younger years, he was a bus driver for Salem School.
Mr. Gottfried was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He was a member of the Wyandot County Sportsman Club and the Salem Grange.
Mr. Gottfried enjoyed going to flea markets, where he collected antique toy tractors and scales. As a philanthropist, he increased the well-being of humanity.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bringman-Clark Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Jarrod Schaaf officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
