Annual SWCD tour educates officials on issues, successes

Filter strips explained

The Wyandot County Soil and Water Conservation District held its annual soil and water tour Monday morning. The tour featured four programs the department works on with area landowners, explaining the programs to area government officials including the Wyandot County Commissioners, State Rep. Riordan McClain and the Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Dorothy Pelanda.

Riverdale School District unveils unified logos

New logo

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale Local School District now has brought together a set of unified logos to be used on athletic uniforms and apparel. At the regular monthly board meeting Monday, Riverdale Superintendent Jeff Young said there was a need in the district to have a different logo.

First responders were called to the scene of a a truck roll-over just after 8 a.m. Tuesday on US 23 north and near Ohio 44. A spokesperson for the Ohio State Highway Patrol said one trailer, pulled by a truck pulling two trailers, overturned.

An officer assisted waste water plant employees and construction workers with a raccoon that was stuck on the 100 block of Indian Mill Drive the morning of Sept. 30. Amarjit Singh, Springfield Gardens, New York, was cited for commercial truck off route on Baker Court near Kroger Drive the morning of Sept. 30. Photos were taken of damage to road signs and tire tracks in the grass.

Upper Dem announces state senate candidacy

NEVADA — An Upper Sandusky man announced his candidacy for Ohio State Senate Saturday afternoon at a fundraiser hosted by the Wyandot County Democratic Party. Craig Swartz, a former Upper Sandusky City Council member, announced he was running to represent the 26th District of the Ohio General Assembly for the Ohio 2020 election during the Wyandot County Democratic Party fundraiser at the White Shutter Winery.
