The Catholic Ladies of Columbia recently donated $1,500 to St. Peter School. The CLC held a bake sale and proceeds were matched with charitable donations from the CLC Home Office.

Hancock County offering multiple grants to support tourism growth

FINDLAY — The Hancock County Convention and Visitors Bureau once again is offering grant programs in 2019 to support local events. The Community Connect Program, Co Op Advertising Grant, Tourism Development Program and Tourism Growth Program, as well as two new programs, the Tournament Builder Program and Rebrand/Annual Program Marketing, will be available.

Wyandot Council on Aging and Trinity Evangelical Church offering free tax prep

For the ninth year, AARP Tax-Aide, a free tax preparation service, is being offered through the joint effort of the Wyandot County Council on Aging and the Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church. Federal, state and school tax returns will be e-filed at no cost, including postage. There are no income or age limits for participants, but preference is given to those over 60.

ODOT returning Paint the Plow contest

LIMA — The Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 now is accepting applications for this year’s Paint the Plow program through March 15 from high schools and vocational school groups within its eight-county region, including Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot counties.

The Upper Sandusky High School students of the month for January are freshman Arlene Lopez, sophomore Marcellus Callahan, junior Amy Frey and (missing from photo) senior Desirae Ingram. The program is sponsored by the Upper Sandusky Lions Club, which donated a monetary gift and certificate for each recipient.
