Westbrook Assisted Living is offering an inaugural Boss Day appreciation breakfast to celebrate National Boss Day on Oct. 17 at Trinity United Evangelical Church. A complementary buffet will be served from 7:15-8 a.m., followed by a slide show presentation from 8-8:30 a.m.

WSOS Community Action Commission offers free career education, placement

Educational and career opportunities are available for no cost to eligible northwest Ohio residents through the Ready to Work program. Administered by WSOS Community Action Commission, Fremont, Ready to Work is a comprehensive career education and employment program that offers education, assessment and testing, coaching, support services and job-placement assistance to participants looking to train for and enter a new career.

Grant writing workshop soon

A grant writing workshop will be provided by the Wyandot County Community Foundation from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Nov. 4 in the Bowman/Kirkland room at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, lower level. Area 501 C 3 nonprofits, churches and governmental units such as schools, townships, villages, libraries and other community organizations searching grant awards are invited to attend.

Smithfield Foods expands grain ops in Wyandot, Marion counties

SMITHFIELD, Va. — Smithfield Foods recently announced the expansion of its grain purchasing and handling operations by adding facilities in Harpster and Morral. The purchase connects grain and soybean farmers with new, global markets while advancing Smithfield’s commitment to supply chain sustainability and proving the benefits of its vertically-integrated structure, according to a press release from the company.

Dr. Brian S. Griffin has joined the staff of Carey Chiropractic Center and Nevada Chiropractic Center. Dr. Griffin’s office hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday mornings, Thursdays and Friday mornings in the Carey Chiropractic Center (419-396-6343) and Wednesdays from 2-5:30 p.m. in the Nevada Chiropractic Center (740-482-1800).
