Vanlue rallies to beat Riverdale in 5 sets

VANLUE — Vanlue rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Riverdale, 17-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-16, 15-8, in a Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball match Monday. Tayler Ashburn led the Falcons (0-7, 0-3 BVC) with 14 kills on 32-of-37 hitting, while Jessica Johnston and Emma Carter had 12 kills each.

Upper takes 2nd place in Sabback Invitational at Bucyrus

BUCYRUS — Jodi and Mara Smalley won the championship at No. 1 doubles to lead Upper Sandusky to a runner-up finish Saturday in the Sam Sabback Tennis Invitational at Bucyrus. The Rams’ Samantha Fagan and Lyndsey McQuown finished as runners-up at No. 2 doubles, and Emma Schoenberger was the No. 3 singles third-place finisher.

Rams 10th in Tiffin Carnival

TIFFIN — Upper Sandusky’s girls were 10th of 33 teams in the Division II-B race to lead area teams in the Tiffin Carnival cross country invitational Saturday at Hedges-Boyer Park. Led by Adriane Weininger’s 16th-place finish in 21:07.9, the Rams scored 309 points. Hathaway Brown topped Minster, 104-118, for the division championship.

Miller leads Carey at NB Invitational

NORTH BALTIMORE — Marcus Miller shot an 80 to lead Carey to sixth place Saturday in the North Baltimore Tiger Invitational at Birch Run Golf Course. The Blue Devils finished with a 378. Patrick Henry won by one stroke over Woodmore, 353-354.

Spartans roll to win over Royals

BUCYRUS — Pleasant rolled to a 25-10, 25-9, 25-7 victory against Wynford in a non-conference volleyball match Saturday. Details of the match between the Royals (3-6) and Spartans (7-1) were not available. Wynford hosts Seneca East at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Falcons’ Collier finishes 4th at Bearcat Invite

SPENCERVILLE — Juleigha Collier finished fourth to lead Riverdale’s girls to fifth place Saturday in the Black Division of the Bearcat Invitational at Spencerville. Collier finished in 20:58.7, and the Falcons scored 122 points. Bellefontaine won, 53-60, over St. Marys Memorial.

Archbold has 6 different players score in shutout win

ARCHBOLD — Six different players scored as Archbold defeated Riverdale, 6-0, in a non-conference boys soccer match Saturday. Andrew Hogrefe scored the first goal with 23:18 remaining in the first half and then assisted on two in the second half after a Clay Gerig goal made it 2-0 in favor of the Blue Streaks (5-1-1) with 9:25 to go before the break.
