Fundraiser bake sale at Mohawk

SYCAMORE — Mohawk High School will host a bake sale to benefit area fire victims from 5-7:30 p.m. Saturday during the boys basketball game against Seneca East. Baked goods may be delivered to the MHS ticket booth from 4-4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Whippets top cold-shooting Rams

Tough night early

SHELBY — A poor shooting start led not only to a tough time on offense but also on defense. Shelby got in transition off of Upper Sandusky’s early misses to run up a big early lead that it carried to a 48-34 victory in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday night.

Warriors snap losing streak

SYCAMORE — Back to full health, Mohawk was able to hold off Galion, 38-33, in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday night. Anna Stillberger scored 9 points, and Sandra Pennington finished with 8 points for the Warriors (4-16), who had lost seven straight.

Davis, Loveridge’s 39 points not enough

ARLINGTON — After a competitive first quarter, Arlington pulled away from Riverdale in the second quarter and didn’t look back in a 76-61 victory Tuesday evening in boys basketball action at Arlington. Riverdale (4-14, 2-6 Blanchard Valley Conference) hung tough early, trailing just 16-15 after the first quarter, but Arlington (11-7, 5-3 BVC) outscored the Falcons 22-8 in the second quarter to enter halftime with a 38-23 lead.

Blue Devils rout Wildcats

CAREY — Carey overcame a somewhat slow start to blow out Vanlue, 82-45, in a nonconference boys basketball game Tuesday night. The Wildcats (6-10) led 20-17 after one quarter but the Blue Devils outscored them 65-25 the rest of the game.

Royals hold off Golden Knights

BUCYRUS — Turnovers were a struggle early, but Wynford took care of the ball when it needed and was able to take a 35-30 non-conference girls basketball victory against Northmor on Monday night. The Royals used an 11-3 run to take an 11-point lead late in the third quarter and then held on late after the Golden Knights scored 10 straight points to get within one.

Stone, Carey, outlast Wynford, Call

CAREY — Neither Wynford sophomore guard Josh Crall’s 37 points nor a 13-point third quarter run by the Royals was enough to overcome the Carey boys basketball team on Saturday. Led by Hayden Stone’s career-high 29 points, the Blue Devils completed the season sweep of the Royals in a 76-61 victory over Wynford on Saturday at Carey High School.
